Default Bose S1 Pro

Dayum!

Listen, I bought the S1Pro in March 2020 right before the shutdown. I sent it back because my gig calendar got completely cancelled. I never got to field test it. I didn't want to spend the money with all the uncertainty of the time with gigs etc.

Fast forward to now!
I just bought another one. I wasn't sure what to think. I set it up in the living room and thought, eh it's pretty cool. Well, I found out that is not a proper test!

Today I set it up on the back porch with iPhone bluetooth. I walked nearly a football field away! S1 at 50% volume. I cannot believe how much sound the thing put out. Somehow the sound stayed the same as I walked further away! I'm truly blown away. I was SO skeptical of this little thing. WOW. This is a game changer! Somehow I thought all the hype was people just jumping on the Bose bandwagon. Nope! It's real. This little lunchbox is impressive~!

Just sayin.

Hi JPH, you are definitely preaching to this choir...
I've been gigging the S1 for 2 years now and it's been great for me.
Congrats on your new rig

Thanks Joe!

Just curious, do you have the backpack or the slip cover?

Which do you recommend? I need to get something to cover this baby.

I use one of these:
Tesco cooler bag

Sadly discontinued but similar still exist. Thermal insulation makes great impact protector and doesn't attract the gaze of the ne'er-do-well.

Also, not £130 like the (very nice) Bose bag but £13.

There are third party items which sit somewhere between Bose and me which get good reviews, I'm sure someone will post.

I love mine.
Having said that, the S1 has limitations. In rooms that are larger with lots of background noise and more than 40 or so, we had issues.
When that happens we add powered satellites on speaker poles.

I'm a big fan of Connie's Covers sold on eBay. They're made of a quilt-like material. I have one for my S1 Pro and Bugera AC60.

Thank you for the replies everyone! I basically want something I can keep the power cable in. Disappointing that the S1 slip cover doesn't have a pouch on it.

I don't know that I want to spend all the extra on the backpack just to have a place to put the power cable.

I will check out the alternative back packs mentioned above.

Also, Connie's covers look pretty cool too, but no pouch that I could see in the pics.

Thanks again.

I can see that.

For those situations, I will most certainly just take the EV30M to the gig.

Clever alternative. hadn't thought of that.

That's right JPH. No pouch.

Anyone happen to know if the S1 slip cover can fit the power cord inside on top of the S1?

I have the S1 slip covers...I doubt a power cord would fit in there securely, there's not much room where the handle is. Even if it did fit, there's a good chance it could come loose and you might lose it. Connie's Covers does make a nice product...I've purchased many covers from Connie, but yes, no pocket for cables, etc.

Another alternative, surprisingly, is a Fishman Loudbox Mini bag. The S1 fits perfectly (face down is best), with plenty of pockets for cables, etc., and will give you solid protection. I got mine from a ProAudioStar open box deal:

Hope this helps.

I use one of these Rockville bags. Can't remember which one it is...Room for Bose (standing upright) and cables plus front pouch. Enough padding for bumps and bruises, easy to carry. Both of these bags are under $40. Hope this helps.

I use an Arriba Cases "bag" made for lights. I put in extra padding to take up the extra room. Decently protective, but the Bose bag offers shockingly little protection for the price. It should be like a Mono bag but definitely is NOT. Even at half price, I returned them to Bose.

Looks like the price of the Arriba bag went way up. Shop around. https://www.wwbw.com/Arriba-Cases-AC...ag-541814.wwbw

I love mine too for all the reasons you note. Great dispersion at lower volume that I used to need from my LB Artist. Now let's wait for the inevitable detractors on the thread
