Default K&K in McPherson Sable

Has anyone tried the K&K Pure Mini or K&K Trinity system in a Carbon Sable?
Considering giving it a shot but was hoping for some input first….

No personal experience and have not read of anyone doing an install. Having said that, I did read that McPherson purposely prepares their carbon guitars to have any pickup a customer wants. Furthermore, the sound hole placement appears installation friendly. I bet it would work great! McPherson is pretty good at responding to questions. You may want to contact them direct.

If McPherson does prepare the Sable to accept a K&K Mini Pure, perhaps it looks similar to what Emerald does.
Here's an image of an Emerald Guitar that's been prepared to accept a K&K Mini Pure.

Hi,

No first-hand knowledge but have seen problems posted with sound balance on cargos from the past and know that prior versions of blackbird carbon fiber products that had offset sound holes have trouble dialing in balanced sound. In speaking in the past with Joe at blackbird he seemed to indicate it has something to do with the soundboard and offset sound holes. Just food for thought.

I have a Sable and just spoke with Dustin at McPherson. He said they have never installed a K&K pickup in a Sable.

Back in the old MacNichol forum, I posted quite a bit about installing K & K pickups in my Cargos. Marty Reynolds did the installs back at the old Podium. I modded a couple of different pedals to cope with some frequency extremes, including the K & K preamp, and was quite successful. However, others in the group were not at all interested in doing the various mods. I can't blame them. That stuff was fun for me and probably just work to them.

These days, all you need is the Empress Para-EQ and your troubles are over. But I read somewhere that the Para-EQ has been discontinued. If so, that is really a shame since it is a really good pedal.

I don't intend to modify my Sable, so I won't be doing a K & K install in it.

Tony
