Easiest way to post a video on YouTube
Hi recording enthusiasts,
I just got a Zoom Q8 to make some easy videos of my playing and hopefully post on YouTube. I'm excited with the results using the onboard X-Y mics and I'll probably go from recording to sharing with minimal post processing. I've not posted anything there in a LONG time and I do have an account that I am only using to make comments on other videos (all good!). Any advice or tips?

I have the Zoom Q8 too - I just download the video files to my laptop (MacBook Pro) and then upload to Youtube from there, super quick and easy.

You are right, it is that easy.

First edit, then upload! Cut the initial 'setting up' out (when you push the record button, then go over to your playing location, sit down and get guitar ready). Same thing at the end. Before getting up to hit the 'stop' button, allow a couple of seconds of silence when you finish the song.
When you edit out the start and stop, use a quick fade-in at the beginning and fade-out at the end on the audio track.

It doesn't really matter what software you use. I have a number of different programs, and recently tried out one free one (Davinci Resolve) that wouldn't work on either of my computers as I didn't have 'enough' of a graphics card in either.
My 'go to' is an old Roxio version (on a Win 7 machine, gives me some grief) because its' GUI is simple to use.

Sorry guys, I was referring to using a video fade in and fade out kind of edit before and after I start playing on the recorded video.

I am a Mac user and just use iMovie to do the quick edits, and can upload finished videos to YouTube directly from the program. The advantage of a simple (point-n-shoot) video editing program (besides it being free) is ease and speed of use…and good results. I'm guessing there is a similar program available for Windows users as well. |
