Ready for finish
I've got this guitar pretty well set up for finish:
Here is what it looks like dry and unfinished. I expect it to go crazy when the finish hits! Thanks for looking! Mark

Thanks, I’ll be sure to do that
Thanks Mike! This one is less flashy than the previous “wave” maple Josie. It’s a bit earthy and subtle. I am happy how the colors come together on this guitar and the wonderful figure has depth and interest. Ovangkol is a strong sounding tonewood, more toward rosewood. All the boxes are checked! Thanks for commenting! Mark

Fourth Guitar for Woodstock
I am taking four guitar to exhibit at the Woodstock show. I just got the fourth one ready for finish. It is my Josie small jumbo model. Originally I planned to do another Unlimited Series one but, for variety's sake I decided to do a standard model. I think it will be good to have a guitar to point to and say, "These are the features you get with the base price". I feel I give a lot in my base price so I should show it!
We have Indian Rosewood back and sides with a Western Red Cedar soundboard. On this model an unbound sound port is included in the base. When I have it finished I'll walk through everything else a base price Josie comes with.

I have made enough of each of my models that certain features seem to really shine on different models. I added the elevated fretboard as standard on the Penelope because it is just more comfortable to play with it.
The soundport has been a consistent addition to the Josie and it should come with one. Quote:
Yeah! This guitar will sound awesome! Come try it and tell me if I’m wrong! Mark

How do you feel the soundport on a Josie functions compared to a soundport on a Greta? What is it about the slightly bigger body that makes the soundport particularly shine for your SJ model?

I also love the look of wood which a guitar can show off wonderfully. However it’s not hard to go really wrong with either look. I am looking forward to getting strings on that Ovangkol Josie. From what I’ve seen so far I feel I’m safe keeping my expectations high. Quote:
I could also speculate about the relationship between sound hole locations and relation to the position of waist but, that would be tough to nail down. Well I’ll try to get some soundclips up for the guitars I’ll be bringing to the show.
