Default Bagnasco&Casati 1933 OM-28 replica Build thread

Dear AGFers,

My name is Alan Hwang, the owner of the humble start up shop called “Fine Luthiers”. I am writing to extend warm greetings and as a guitar aficionado in the giving care guitar community, would like to introduce my shop to you.

“Fine Luthiers”, based in Korea, has recently opened up for introducing Fine Luthiers from U.S or outside of U.S to Korean Guitar community. However, these days we started to expand our business to worldwide~

You will see many dealer posts and build threads of our shop later on.

I would like to start with this build thread first because this guitar will be our shop collection. It means not for sale. I will also come up with another build thread for the shop collection from the top notch pre war martin inspired builder shortly~

Let me begin the thread with the next post!

Default WIP Bagnasco&Casati 1933 OM 28 replica Alpine Moon spruce/Brazilian RW

If you are not familiar with Vintage scene, Andrea Bagnasco and Alessio Casati are the hottest vintage guitar restorers in these days.
They do whole lot of repair work of Golden era of Martin and Gibson guitars for folks in EU.
B&C's makes really faithful replicas of Prewar Martin and Banner Gibson!

Air-dried Alpine Moon Spruce top

Old-growth BRW Back&Side

This BRW set was cut way before 1950's and acquired in early 1950's in EU~ so pretty old growth BRW it is. We got very few sets left to build some great replica projects.

The box is being closed~

The box is closed now!

I can't wait to see more stuff from B&C~

Welcome AlanHw--looking forward to seeing your guitars here on the forum.

At this point, I am unable to view your photos. Don't know if it's just me or the hosting site where your photos reside.

Hope to be able to see them soon, and again, welcome!

I have heard a few of B&M's sound clips and love what I hear. They are making some fine guitars. Looking forward to seeing the build.

I also can't see the photos. Try hosting them on Imgur, it works well for forums. Thank you.

Thanks, Alan, for sharing the build with us.

Andrea and Alessio build as fine a vintage guitar recreation as the world has ever experienced. Extraordinary artists.

More progressions

The Butt wedge of the closed box

Now to the binding job! Gluing celluloid binding on the top.

The glue that B&C uses is celluloid melted in acetone.

like it was done at Martin back in the day...

Celluloid pickguards just rolled on. Those are glued on the bare top wood using lacquer thinner only, again the old method.

Starting rough fitting of necks to the body!

Front view

Locating the exact position of fingerboard inlays

A Human CNC working on the inlay pearl in the fingerboard

Mating bridge blanks to necks
