Default Classic Guitar to Tenor Guitar

I have a classical guitar with a scale of 25.5". I want to take off the strings and replace them with a set of strings for a tenor guitar tuned CGDA. Would such a set be long enough or too short. I know the normal scale of a tenor is 22".

If a CGDA set is too short, what would be my options?

For CGDA strings, specs should be available online at the mfg site or various vendor sites. The folks you plan to buy from should provide this info to get your business. The 22-23" tenor set is over stretched at 25" and feel tight, so you may want to chose softer versions if available, or capo down 2-3" before tuning to CGDA.

By dead reckoning at +/- 25":
- Target C2 G2 D3 A4
- Guitar set E2 A3 D3 G3 B4 E4
- Closest guitar strings are E slack, A slack, D same, B slack. If they feel too slack go to a harder version of the string set.
- Bonus: can install the unused E high string as a fifth string at E4 a fifth higher than A4.
- Bonus: classical guitar strings are easy to find.
