The cougar probably didn’t eat her because it was worried crazy is contagious.

That's the funniest quip I've heard in a long time

As to the OP some of the quotes deserve this "cat speak"

I find some of quotes in the article a bit much. And I am a total critter person
While I know for fact from years of horse training, frame of mind and personal perspective based on trying to understand things from the animals perspective , helps shape overall demeanor and body language which plays a big roll in trying to communicate with animals.
Non the less it is not "telepathy" it's really just common sense.

When Kitty Kitty decided to lay on the hay in the back of our garage instead of exit the garage , when I opened up the auto door and expected her run out, but instead she just lay there watching me intently but calmly as I calmly snapped this photo from just outside the door.

And I also used "drumming" to communicate, that is to say I went into the shop which is to the right in photo ( the garbage bag of insulation is next to the shop wall) and "drummed" on the shop wall directly to her right and Ill be darned if she did not saunter on out.

After 35 years together I'm still learning how to read my wife's mind.

If she reads this and starts in with that blinking stuff I'm done for

It's pretty well-known that you can calm down a house cat by relaxing and looking him or her with drowsy eyes and blinking slowly. Cats blink slowly at each other to communicate that they are relaxed and happy. Like a yawn, it is catching. I have done this with my cats for years.

I didn't know you could do the same with the big cats but it makes sense. There's not a whole lot of difference between the big and little cats except size and power.

Just don't get poofy to me about it. The drum is a wonderful, humorous irony.
