Default Install soundhole pickup with no soundhole...

Guitar is a Journey OF660 (with offset soundhole), pickup is a Baggs M1. Has anyone done this before? Is it just drill and route out a hole to fit the pickup?

How did you make sure the pole magnets line up to the strings before you drilled?

Any other advise or recommendations please?

Thanks!

Honestly I would not recommend modifying that guitar for a soundhole pickup. Chances are you can't anyway because the bracing is probably right where the pickup would go and you would end up destroying the guitar.

I would recommend using a different pickup that goes under the saddle or mounts to the bridge plate.

For my looping rig (play 315+ gigs per year), I must have a magnetic soundhole pickup. I’d love to use a K&K mini, but those types of pickups don’t play nice with some effects pedals.

Anyone got info that can help?

Thanks, I ordered one of the Lace pickups to test out, I’m hoping it works in my rig. Just doing my research in case it doesn’t provide a usable sound.

I guess no one has really done this type of install before huh? It’s not really what the pickup was designed for, right?

Oh well, I’ll probably do some tests with wood or acrylic first and resort to trial-and-prayer. Haha!
