Fretboards with inlay at the 12th fret only?
Anyone have pics of fretboards with inlay on (or around) the 12th fret only. Aside from signature blocks, that is.
Looking for inspiration, and a better sense of what works and what doesn't (balance, composition, etc.). Found a few things on google, but it's a weird thing to narrow down in a search.

This is what I chose for my Santa Cruz, something simple. It’s straight from a 42 style inlay.

warfrat73,
I have an Alvarez AJ60S. It has a diagonal line inlay at the 12th fret bisected with a lozenge shaped cross. I can't post pictures, but here is a link to a cutaway one: https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Al...BoCDnYQAvD_BwE If you expand the picture a couple of times, the lozenge cross is easy to see. I think Alvarez uses this on many of their instruments. Don .

I think that you can get a celtic knot inlay at 12 on your McIlory. It is not standard though.

I love finding Santa Cruz guitars that have a blank headstock, and the SCGC logo at the 12th fret -

This is a small 12th fret inlay of leatherwood leaves and flowers. The guitar’s back and sides are Tasmanian blackwood, and leatherwood is another tree found in Tasmania.
Why leatherwood? Well it is also used to make my favourite honey. The honey is strong and full of flavour and for some reason I liked the analogy between the honey and the sound of the guitar! |

Fretboards with inlay at the 12th fret only?
I agree ... beautiful ! Here’s my Alvarez AP66 ... and then a blow up of the inlay itself ... it’s sort of a “yin yang” approach to an oval, segmented by a diagonal break through the center (vertically) ... I do not know the significance of it, but welcome anyone who does to chime in! IMG_1600960089.878135.jpg IMG_1600960104.014474.jpg To my eye, it is understated and interesting, both of which appeal to me and add to this bluesy little hot rod’s vibe ... ~ Paul

Thanks guys! Full credit goes to Laurie Williams, a very talented builder living out in the country at the northern end of New Zealand.
