Fender Blues Junior IV Amp question

I need a little bit of advice as I am not guitar amplifier savvy. I came across a very nice clean Fender Blues Junior IV amp - Made in Mexico. I could take it home for $350 US.

So my question is, is this a decent deal that I should pull the trigger on? I have wanted a tube amp which is what led me to this consider this purchase. I had previously been looking at the tweed models with the Johnson speaker. This is Black Tolex model with the Celestion speaker.

I just bought the blues junior tweed with the Jensen speaker. I liked it a little more than the iv but would have been pretty happy with either. I think the iv is a slightly improved model though, and if you decide you want a different speaker down the track, it’s a pretty simple change. I teach at a music store here in Australia and, even with staff discount, paid over $1100 AUD for mine. I think $350 US sounds like a great deal for an awesome little amp.

I used to have the tweed. I think $350 is a very fair price and if down the road you want to sell it, you might lose $50+-?

Thanks much guys for the feedback. I end up pulling the trigger on the amp and should have it in a few days. Forgot about dang tax so it came out to $373 US. I think it should be a nice addition to my Marshall solid-state amp.

That sounds like a good deal. I haven't played through one, but what I'm seeing people say about the IVs is that they've finally solved that harshness in the upper mids that some people (including me) disliked about the Blues Jr. It's supposedly still a bright amp, but a little smoother. I'd be interested in hearing your impressions after you've had a chance to play with it.

Before you buy a BJ IV (or any other amp in this power/size range) take one of these for a test drive: independent switchable channels/mid-boost, best built-in digi-verb I've heard (this one'll surf), pentode/triode switch not only allows for low-power practice but opens up a totally different spectrum of tones (mostly of the British 18-watt/pre-Top Boost variety, with a nice "medium-brown" crunch in OD), enough grunt to cover a 600-700 seat house with no problem, tube swapping (normally a $100 bias job at your friendly local tech) is a plug-&-play affair - and at $400 a heluva lot cheaper than any of its real competition:

Try it anyway - at $400 for an all-tube two-channel amp you almost can't afford not to have one as part of your collection...
