Default 10,000th post (10,056th to be exact)

Please grant me a little posting time and stream of consciousness here. I wanted to do a special post with number 10,000, but it got used up instead in some AGF business I got wrapped up in and I blew by it sadly.

I decided not to doing anything, but have changed my mind because the AGF deserves my thanks.

I joined the forum innocently enough to learn more about custom built guitars specifically Steve Kinnaird guitars as a google search led me here. Since then I have not only learned about his guitars, we have become good friends along with Ryan and I have been to their shop and my step daughter goes to college in their town.

I have met so many nice folks on the forum both in person and virtually. I became a moderator and have been for almost 5 years now. I started a guitar show which has been a huge success for luthiers and attendees down here in Texas. I have met a lot of luthiers, each and everyone has been wonderful. Because of the AGF and the guitar community, I was able to host Tony McManus in my home this fall for a concert along with Dustin Furlow, Karlijn Langendijk and Frog and Toad, all outstanding in their own rights.

I have been entertained by humorous comments and stories and by endless Show and Tell submissions by our talented membership, learned more about bridge pins, string tension, and wood harvested in the full moon by fairy's in magical forests then I thought I would ever need to know. I have found out that Rosewood, Mahogany, Oak, Ebony, Maple, and Southeast Asian RW makes the best guitar (Choose which one you like and move on), that Adirondack is better than Sitka and Sitka is better than Adirondack and Cedar has no headroom, but Cedar has all the headroom you would ever need, Redwood is great unless it is not and if it is not it is still great. All these things I have learned here.

For all that the AGF has done for me, all the people I have met, all the great guitars I have acquired, and for helping me host B.I.G., I thank JR, my fellow mods, all the members and Toto too.

This place has given me a lot and I am truly thankful.

Tom

Great question, I think looking back I am particularly fond of 3067 and 8789, but I think number 6432 was the best!

I see I've gone over 16,000 ... about 10 of those were useful.

Not 10,000 ... just 10.
