Though not as well known to many, I can say EVD is a top notch luthier and runs a great shop in Colorado. What a steal!

If you'd like to know more, the podcast Luthiers on Lutherie has an hour's interview with Ed. There's a hilarious account of his brief attempt to make abstract string instruments. Gorgeous and widely admired, they were rejected from a big art show. "This isn't Art," the curator said. "This shows far too much craftsmanship and care to be Art. It's Fine Art. Do you have anything in trash can lids and barbed wire?"

I bought my most treasured guitar, a 1962 D-21, from Ed over 40 years ago when he owned Ed's Music Workshop in Peterborough, Ontario. Both of my sons got their first guitars at Ed's as well. My wife bought the D-18 that she owned when we were married 35 years ago at Ed's. It was a gathering place for many of Peterborough's musicians. When Ed moved away from Peterborough, the late Don Skuce took it over, but it remained Ed's Music Workshop.
Ed's pick Ed's T shirt Ed's T shirt Ed converted the bridge on this 1958 J-50, now owned by my brother Bob, from a ceramic adj saddle to a fixed bone saddle.
