A lagniappe (/ˈlænjæp/ LAN-yap, /lænˈjæp/ lan-YAP) is "a small gift given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase" (such as a 13th doughnut on purchase of a dozen), or more broadly, "something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure."

Like a 7th string on a 6 string guitar..I think I get it now...or a full tank in a new car purchase ... or a kiss instead off the usual hug from a super model...or...

Wow, you learn something new every day.

I've decided that people mis-pronouncing "Lagniappe" is going to be my new pet peeve.

Lagniappe. Thanks Tom, for expanding my vocabulary. Ya never know what you're going to learn on this forum. Now the challenge is how to fit lagniappe into a song lyric.

Baseball cap
Thunder clap

Let's rap

Nice list, RP. I'll send a free guitar pick (not one of those really fancy expensive ones) to someone who puts it to music and posts it. Of course you can add other rhyming words. The rules are pretty loose. And who knows, you might find a lagniappe in that pick package.

Another thought...lagniappe would be a good word to include in a spelling bee.
