Thumbs up New Bluegrass Show on PBS

Hi All,

Thought you bluegrass fans might be interested in this message from a colleague at the Nashville PBS station. This new special will most likely be coming to a PBS station near you in August. Enjoy this sneak peek:

"I attended the taping of ALL STAR BLUEGRASS II last night, along with more than 3,000 enthusiastic bluegrass fans at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. It looked great and sounded even better, with a very nice mix of new performers and more established names.

I don't know what the final broadcast show rundown will look like, but Terry's got some amazing stuff to work with - Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Ricky Skaggs, The Whites, Jesse McReynolds and Mac Wiseman, Allison Krause and Union Station (ably assisted by 11 year old mandolinist Sierra Hull), a great performance by fiddle player Vassar Clements (celebrating his 75th birthday), and the Del McCoury Band with the Fairfield Four, one of America's great black gospel groups. Nickel Creek brought the house.

And I was very impressed with two groups I had heard of but never seen in live performance - Mountain Heart with a couple of very up-tempo songs, and Rhonda Vincent who has a wonderful voice, great delivery and an outstanding band with very tight instrumentals.

Host Vince Gill established a great rapport with the audience, as did the performers. They all had very positive and heartfelt things to say about public television."

Thumbs up Bluegrass show

Daren,

Well, it's about time!
What a lineup. Is this going to be a regularly broadcast show?

BTW, any suggestions regarding a good Taylor for bluegrass work? I have a 314CE which doesn't cut through when jamming with others.
Thanks.

My 810 works well. I would guess that a 510 or 710 would also be great choices.

Here in the NYC area, its coming on on Thursday Night at 8 pm. I hope I can catch a rerun somewhere on the weekends...sometimes working at night sucks.

It's a one time special, but if they get the response that they did to the first special last year, I bet they'll do a third. BTW- I know someone mentioned it in another thread, but PBS is also airing "Three Pickers" with Doc Watson, Earl Scruugs and Ricky Scaggs, so you should be on the lookout for that soon too.
