Thanks all! It’s rare that we mods share about our role, but we seem to be doing it in this thread.

I’ve been a member here for 16+ years and accepted this moderator gig 15 months ago. It has been very interesting and I’ve learned much about a lot of things, with a lot more ahead. I have gained even more appreciation for the mods who have gone before me, and it has been a pleasure working with my current fellow mods, admin and forum owner who are all fine, giving people who respect this community and its members in the interest of “giving back”. We have to make some tough decisions and sometimes take unpopular actions, but it’s all to help maintain a congenial, safe environment that is fair to all, including to take measures to ensure that the forum is not bombarded with spam.

If you ever have the chance to become a moderator, you may want to give it serious consideration. I find it very rewarding.

I’ll return backstage now.

Many a forum could learn from this site’s approach to moderating. I suspect it feels like baby sitting a bunch of wild toddlers half the time but the positive vibe and congeniality of the AGF shows you’re doing the right thing. THANK YOU!
