Joined in 2006 when I got my first Taylor, a 455 12-string. Let's just say that a whole lot of guitars have passed through the Porter household since then...

Well, it's pretty clear when we joined as its prominently displayed in the upper right corner, but the second question is a good one.
How much has it "cost" me to be an AGF member for 8 yrs? Well let's see... considering every guitar I've ever bought has subsequently been sold for a sizable profit... yes, that's right, I've always "made money" on my transactions, always, without exception, so the net "cost" would be zero. Yeah, that's how it been for me these 8 years.. buy low, sell high. And I imagine that's been the case for most of us, right?!? |

12 years. Nothing. I don’t read gear/instrument ads unless I need something and can’t find it locally.

April 2006.
Cost ? I've not bought a guitar because of the AGF. Actually , can't think of anything I've bought via the AGF, nor sold anything.

Just a little over a couple years. I started playing again after 30 years of barely playing and not playing almost three years ago, around New Years of 2017. Sometime in the summer of 2017 I realized I was all the way back into it and sold my couple of cheap placeholders and upgraded to some decent gear again, including an 000-15M. And I guess a few months after I bought that, I had a few questions about it, found this place, and have been getting more and more into playing acoustic since. I've been much more of an electric player for most of my playing years, and I still love playing my electrics, but I'd say I'm pretty heavily into an acoustic phase at the moment where I'm probably 80-90% playing acoustic. So, not long, but like many things about playing now vs the mid/late 80's, resources like this are wonderful to have and just didn't exist back then... The internet was really just coming to life when my kids were born, which is about when I put guitar on the back burner...

April 2006, So I'm in my thirteenth year.
As you can see by my count, I've done a lot more listening than posting. There's so much to be learned here. Cost? Nothing but my time.

10 years. Not exactly sure how much it has cost me, but more than I ever anticipated, which was nothing. The AGF has definitely been a "gateway" to the "hobby" of buying, trading, and selling guitars.

I officially joined in 2008 but was a lurker for a good year before that. I have purchased two guitars as a result of this forum. Total cost of about a grand. I have also sold two guitars to forum members and recouped about $900 of that. Along with the cost of my regular membership, it probably has cost me about a nickel a day.
The most recent guitar that I purchased was totally my own doing and would have happened even if I wasn't a forum member. Now, in terms of the cost of new strings...I have probably spent at least $50 a year on strings due to this forum. Learned a lot about strings on each of my guitars so worth the investment. Best, Jayne |

No idea on cost because i cannot remember what it is per year. I was quite a few years in before I started paying the member fee. Let's see: ot=f teh 10 years, it must have been $0 for the first 6 or so. I can afford it.

Wow, it'll be 13 years next week!
I did a Google search for "Taylor vs. Martin" and ended up here. Joined shortly thereafter. If anyone is curious, I went with Taylor for a while, but I kept my Takamine. |
