I always heard:-

Take me to the river and watch me drown.

Must hang Sally

Or Sheryl Crow singing 'If it makes you wappy'

Default Misheard Lyrics

I always thought Billy Joel was saying , “to get at least as far as their home and yacht” in his song “Allentown.”

For all my young life I thought the last line of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was "You'll go down in his story".

That explains his scream after that line...

I remember the first time I heard AC/DC song Dirty Deeds Done Dirt

Cheap. I had no idea who they were or the name of the song so as a

teenager I thought they were singing, "Dirty deeds done with sheep."

My parents are very old fashioned and taught me as a youngster that rock

and roll was the devil's music. That misheard lyric made me wonder for

a while if they were actually right!

No, those lyrics are obviously incorrect, because AC/DC is an Australian band.

Now, if they were from New Zealand . . .

The real lyrics are crazy enough!

Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Madman drummers bummers
Indians in the summer
With a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps
As the adolescent pumps
His way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder
Feelin' kinda older
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin'
Sneezin' and wheezin
The calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the ground
Well she was
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night

Well I'll be darn... now I know... after all these years... I never knew.
