Default Loriente surprise....

totally unexpected purchase, but thankful I did it. I've been VERY good for the last year and a half or so, but this popped up at a price I couldn't resist.

It's not a museum piece, but structurally great and it's a little warmer and louder than my Solista. It has a slightly fuller neck profile, and a little wider string spacing at the nut (same nut width) which will take some getting used to - but it sounds wonderful and I've dialed in the setup. By the way - those aren't marks in the top, but little bear claws!

I've had a couple Clarita spruce and one cedar in the past, I don't remember them sounding this good. It is one of the newer, blue label versions (others were older) so maybe that has something to do with it?

Anyway - it turned out well and I'm happy I dropped my guard and bought it!

Todd, very happy for you. Beautiful new guitar, and I've only heard good things about Loriente.
I hope you don't feel guilty at all! After what you went through in 2020 with your office flooding, this is the least you can do to be nice to yourself.
Enjoy! I know you will.

Thanks - yes it was quite a year.

I'd only bought one guitar since November of '19 (Webber dread that I've now sold).

I figured the symmetry of two steel and two classicals was a better bet

I'm going to see which one responds the best to being tuned down a half step.

What Loriente is it? And is it cedar or spruce?

It's the Clarita - and spruce top.

This has worked out extremely well

The whole idea behind having two classicals was to have one to tune down a half step - I dropped the Solista down this morning and it sounds heavenly - and very close to the tonal characteristics of the Clarita in standard.

Here's a recording I did yesterday with the Clarita in standard, and the one in my signature is the Solista in standard.

I'll do something soon with it dropped down a half.

Among my several guitars, I also have a Loriente Clarita (blue label) in cedar, and it's a great guitar.
