Beautiful guitar Doug, you must be thrilled with it. Sounds just so balanced and warm, and the mics are also impressive sounding - all in all another bar setting recording.

Doug, I was playing along and of course had to tune to C#, not D, is that because of the guitar's age or do you just like how the tune sits that low? After playing a few measures I really like how it flows in the G tuning which uses more open bass than the DADGAD arrangement.

This is a great recording to try to match. Emphasis is on try

I forgot about that. I found the action a tad high for my taste when I got it, so I tuned down half a step to reduce the tension a little. I've just had it there since. I actually think most guitars sound nice down half a step, it just makes playing with others hard.

What a great sounding guitar and love the dual ETL mic setup. We love our Edwina. Less than 3 pounds?!? Wow - light as a feather!!

That is soo good. Such a rich and lush tone. Your playing pulls the best out of your guitar!

Are you green-screening there, Doug? Or did you really brick over your video room?

Fran

Default gear

hi Doug, do you mind sharing info on your gear? Mic, preamp, computer card?

The mic is the Ear Trumpet Labs Evelyn, a stereo ORTF mic. That just plugged into a Zoom H6 for recording. I popped the SD card out of the Zoom and loaded it into Logic for mixing. So the entire recording chain, preamp, interface, etc, was just the builtin Zoom stuff. I added a bit of reverb (Bricasti M7), level adjustment, etc in Logic and then sync'd with the video. Cameras were GH-series Panasonics. This is my usual You Tube chain other than the new mic.

An older thread I missed the first time - glad to have another shot at it. You're obviously an incredible player, but man, what a wonderful sounding guitar. A 12-fret 000 may be my ultimate guitar for fit and sound. I assume this had the short scale? Man, an 000-18 12=fret with a short scale and something like a Mod-V neck might be about perfect. I'll never own a vintage one, but maybe a custom shop type thing. Just sounds wonderful.
