Not that I plan on buying another Emerald guitar, but I was triggered by the phrase "existing Emerald customers ONLY".

I own 3 Emerald guitars but I never registered an account at their website. My sales interactions have been by email and Skype video chat.
How would I make it clear to the 3D Builder that I am an existing customer?

There's a spot at the end of the 3D Builder process where one can enter the "emerald10" code. I could be wrong, but my gut feeling is if one enters the code then that customer will get the discount. The more difficult part may be ordering an Emerald based solely on the options on the 3D Builder program...

That is seriously tempting, but I don’t think that even with the discount that I’d get it past the CFO. I made the mistake of announcing that I was considering a new camera recently - can’t have both

A camera takes pictures, but an Emerald creates music....

Quite true, but for a purchase that is entirely discretionary, such distinctions rarely carry much weight

When I was writing outdoor guides, I befriended a professional photographer who lived extremely frugally in someone's basement and stayed on the road about nine months out of the year. Old bicycles and an old car, but he told me he'd readily spend thousands on a new lens to gain a single f-stop - it's all about priorities. That's his picture of yours truly on my second book. The only thing I'd add is that progress marches on, and last year's hot new photographic item may well become next year's paperweight while no amount of progress is going to make this year's Emerald any less valuable or useful next year...

I'm guessing that there are those who would prefer the old bridge to the new pinless one just like there are those who prefer 90s and X-braced Taylors to new and improved V-braced ones...

I'm sure, I was basing my comment on the fact that I sold my X20 a week after the new one was released and I heard numerous times that they would pass on mine and buy the new one. It was sold once and i had to refund the buyer before it shipped for that reason.

Must... stand... firm...

Despite what I said earlier in the thread, I was perilously close to taking advantage of this with a nicely configured Amicus.

But, I managed to persuade myself that I probably wouldn’t play it that much.

Can I hold out for another 8 days?

Alistair knows what he’s doing! I almost convinced myself I really needed a X20 Nylon

Yeah, the e-mail I received definitely said it was a "VIP sale" for existing Emerald customers ONLY. The "only" was in all caps. Seems a nice way to thank existing customers, but just putting in the code if one hasn't already purchased an Emerald seems to be outside what Emerald is offering for their loyal customers.

Bad timing for me. I just got an X-20. I'd love to get an Amicus to play with, but if they do it again down the road, I might just have to jump on it.
