When I order a vodka Martini, it's Grey Goose...

The alcoholics I've seen and known will drink almost anything with alcohol in it. The image of a vodka alcoholic seems outdated and would be a middle to upper class alcoholic. IMO

Vermouth is wine and herbs. You either like the taste, or you don’t. Oh, and just like with guitars, and guitar players, there is no ‘best’. The question would be better phrased as ‘favourite vodka brand’, not ‘best’.

Belvedere is a clean smooth vodka in line with GreyGoose. Makes terrific martinis and mixed drinks takes wonderful.

One of my indulgences is to have a single vodka martini every Thursday. Why Thursday? Because we usually go out or get takeout on Friday and Sat and one martini is enough to get me loopy.
That said, Tito's is reasonably priced, widely available and never disappoints. |

I recently enjoyed a can of Stillhouse Vodka. Yes, a rectangular metal turpentine-looking can, 750ml. Got it just because it was different. It was $5-10 more expensive than the cheapo go-to household names, but a LOT cheaper than (what I assume would be) the high-end premium brands.
It made a tasty Moscow Mule with ginger beer and a slice of lime. And Cape Cods with cranberry juice. I don't often do shots, but I tried a couple out of curiosity and found it surprisingly smooth. I'll buy more if I see it again. |

I have a bottle of polish Zubrowka in the freezer. Don't really like any other vodka.

Many people don't believe that people can taste the difference in vodkas. Years ago we had a Monday night social club that would meet at a local establishment. At one point I noticed my drink didn't taste like it should. After that happened a time or two I asked the bar tender if I could look at the bottle. I made a mark of the liquor level on the bottle. The next week I asked to look at the bottle again and the level was above my mark. This is illegal. The owner was pouring well vodka into the Tito bottle. The manager got a new bottle but the owner kept doing it so we stopped meeting there.

I don't drink it myself but clearly Dan Aykroyd's 'Crystal Head' vodka has the coolest bottle!
