This mahogany, which I do believe I have built with several times, is slaying me it’s so exquisite. I do hope it’s not dementia . . .

I really appreciate the looks of perfectly quartered, straight, non-figured Mahogany. It’s a treat when you look at it really close, as in the photo by the end graft. Wonderful looking guitar Bruce.

I love exotic and unusual materials, but my ideal is still simple, high-quality materials carefully prepped and assembled by the hands of a master - that mahogany is beautiful, and the guitar is stunning!

Here's the last desk I made. We might need to acquire a little more mahogany, or as in this desk, Goncalo Alves. As you can see by the state of the art TV, it was some time ago:

Looks like John changed his mind about the trophy desk.

Here's the H.mah. 000 neck with its 4th coat of oil varnish:

Looks like it. I guess this thing will be writing notes and not letters.

I share Chuck’s opinion on the end graph photo. The wood is wild up close.

Thanks Bruce and have a great 4th!

The action has been strong and constant over in 2/5/1’s Myrtle 000 thread, but of course that doesn’t contain a lot of news about what else is going on in my shop.

Jmat’s Hmah 000 is almost a week into its finish cure period already! I have removed the stuffing that keeps the varnish out of the inside and tapped on it some. It is extremely promising and I doubt it will fail to live up to the the promise that the Myrtle guitar suggests. We do have a different tonal target however, hoping for the traditional dry Martin prewar character. We won’t know how accurate my aim is till the strings go on in another 3 weeks or so.

Meanwhile, my next customer, Jamiejoon, came by yesterday and we are clear about his build, so I will commence on Monday, most likely. This will be a JB-15, not entirely unlike Tadol’s recent success, but rendered in European Pear and most likely with a European top. . . Unless I find an Adi top that seems better. I have a lot of great tops in the wood locker.

Given my results the first two tries with Pear, I have extremely high expectations.
