Nice. I like black acoustics and electrics, and although my first guitar many years ago was a black Yamaha, I now prefer to see wood grain. If manufacturers lightened up their black finish to allow the guitar’s wood grain to show through, I’d really be smitten.

The Martin 000-17, second from right, has very thin finish and you can see the grain line. I had the sun behind the guitars so they all pictured black black....but the theory is the light finish lets the tones out .....

When I was playing a lot in college-era, I had one of these guitars but sold it when I quit playing. I bought a replacement and restored it to museum quality condition. It came out amazing.

RicFreak, you have a amazing guitar collection! I'd like to hear the story of how that happened sometime.

Ha!

Black is black, I want my baby back.....

Looking good, thanks!

Black acoustics are probably fairly rare. I also have a black finish Hummingbird copy and a black 1983 worst model Strat...gathering dust! Actually worth less now than new all those years back.

I love the look of black finish guitars...and have eyed a Martin 000-17 Black Smoke on a local Craigslist ad recently. The only problem is that there is a small nick on the soundboard, and it shows up like a spotlight was shined on it, and the blonde spruce peeks through.

Is this a common issue with these guitars?

Thanks for your kind words Sir.
It all started when my mum gave me a Chinese made ukulele when I was eleven.
Never looked back since

Top left..... the uke that started my passion.
