Awesome talent, and even at his young age I would bet on thousands of practice hours

Too many people believe their skill is proportional to the cost of their gear. It isn't. Skilled people can sound great on an instrument of nearly any price range, as the video demonstrates.

That's great. To me it's a better example of what one can do if they get good instruction. Like a earlier-in-the-week thread - it's not the instrument. It's the musician.

Yes. A good musician will make every guitar or ukulele look good...even an inexpensive one...and vice versa.

Yes, very impressive. It's amazing what they can do with smoke and mirrors these days!
Seriously, this kid had put some huge hours into his playing. Did you also notice the size of his hands and fingers? Perfect for playing guitar. As for the instrument, it still sounds cheap. It would sound a whole lot cheaper if I was playing it but it still sounds cheap with very little depth and sustain. |

I have no idea what your point is. Lesser guitars can sound better miced up.

play some Kanileas that are surely $1500-2500. This appears to be one of the high end aNueNues with custom inlays all over it (or a cheap onen I haven’t seen before). Hard to tell, but I am guessing he’s graduated beyond the $300 ukes he cut his teeth on and is maybe even sponsored now or in a world where he can afford and access many top shelf ukes. Clearly he has some. |

What does a $2,000 uke sound like?................A ukulele. So, to me, that's a waste of $1,800.

Agreed. I don't know Uke's at all but from the looks of it, that one is more impressive than most I've seen. Of course compared to a decent guitars tone and sustain a Uke would be expected to be thin.

The next time I think about buying an expensive guitar, I’ll buy another expensive guitar! Some people buy expensive guitars because they want to and totally understand that the guitar isn’t going to make them a better player. An expensive guitar can inspire you to play more and become a better player.
