Default Taylor and Gibson pricing

I'm familiar with Martin MAP pricing and deep discounting by certain dealers.

It appears that only list prices are shown on the websites of dealers who handle Taylor and/or Gibson. Are there some dealers who will offer a discounted price at the time of inquiry? If so what are the typical discounts with Taylor and Gibson?

Chicago Music Exchange will discount Gibson if you ask.
You can get a J45 for a little over 2k.

Is it OK to reveal the percentage off list?

Does that mean it's hard to find discounted new Taylor's?

Taylor dealers discount just like Martin except that they skip the ridiculous MSRP. Taylor’s website and dealers advertise the same price which is the same as Martin’s MAP.

Not familiar with Gibson.

Taylor and Gibson ditching MSRP for MAP has made the arithmetic more challenging...but it hasn’t changed the amount of discount you can expect on higher end guitars from our fine AGF sponsors. In the ballpark of 23%-25% off MAP.

I'm not sure if they are forum sponsors, but I had a good experience with https://wildwoodguitars.com/ on my J-45. They have quite a few Gibsons to choose from too.

Default MAP vxs MSRP

I was a longtime guitar shop employee, here's the deal. MSRP used to be the starting point at which all guitars were listed, and stores could sell for whatever they wanted. Eventually big catalog dealers started publishing lower and lower prices, so MAP - or Minimum Advertised Price - was instituted to be the bottom dollar you were allowed to advertise a guitar at when it was on sale or something. The margins at MAP were, and are still, often very low. The MAP rules didn't account for how OFTEN dealers could advertise at MAP, so they all the catalog and burgeoning Internet dealers just dropped their prices to MAP permanently, and then started offering sales on that. This is when independent stores started shuttering, because they couldn't stay in business and compete with those low margins. Why?
Big stores are mostly owned by private equity companies and are heavily saddled with debt. there are exceptions to this, like Sweetwater.
Back to MAP. Over a relatively short amount of time, people became used to seeing MAP and it basically took the place of MSRP in the public consciousness, thus pushing further discounts off that. Great for guitar buyers, terrible for stores. It was so common, many brands have dropped MSRP entirely. Some brands are starting to build better margins in at MAP, but mostly profits are pretty slim overall, even on strings and accessories.
