Need bass sound for my acoustic
Hey guys,
I recently bought a Valeton OC-10 octave pedal. Supposedly it's modeled after the Boss OC 2/3 super Octave pedal. I want to lay down bass lines with my acoustic guitar for looping purposes (not playing chords). Unfortunately, I am getting a lot of warbling sounds when I use it (only using octave 1 and not octave 2). I read reviews on this pedal and it seemed to be very comparable to the OC3, but...I can't get it to sound good. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is the pedal just not as good as the Boss? Or...is it just not possible with one of these pedals to get that decent bass line with an acoustic? Keep in mind, the reason I got this pedal over the Boss was because it was considerably cheaper. So, I'm not looking to spend much. |

The issue you describe is common with analogue octavers like yours, and is the result of the pedal having problems tracking the signal presented to it. However it is far less of a problem with digital effects. Maybe you could audition a few alternatives? This may be useful:https://reverb.com/uk/news/6-perfect...-octave-pedals

You could consider buying a bass guitar maybe?
My Yamaha BB414 was only £100 on Ebay and is an excellent instrument. An octaver is more for playing fat electric guitar licks.

Interesting. I didn't know it was analog. When I listened to it compared to the Boss...I didn't hear much of a difference at all. But, maybe that was because it wasn't acoustic. I guess I will return this and get the boss oc3. thanks!

Paul - this is for looping live. I don't want to haul a bass up there.

Not sure what your budget is, but my Pog nano does a good job laying down a bass line.

Boss OC3 tracks best in my opinion.
(Derail) I'm in the process of switching to a Line 6 HX Stomp which will accept IR's from my Tonedexter, which I'll keep for making more IRs but it won't be on the board anymore. The HX Stomp will replace my OC3, Wet Reverb, & EQ plus give me delay, trem, and compression etc. Should be a game changer. I'll be able to step on one button for strumming, and another for my bass tone. I'll be using a two button Aux switch to give the rig some more functionality. Should be a dream once I get it all programmed, and it will be so much smaller and lighter!
