Default Youtube lessons (on songs) for intermediate to advanced players?

Hey all,

Just wondering if there are many lessons available on youtube that teach you how to play intermediate to advanced difficulty level songs? I know there are many popular and great tutors such as Justin Sandercore, Marty Swartz, James James, Shutup & Play, Lick N' Riff, but some of these have a lot of what I would describe as beginner material.

So, any suggestions for channels that post lessons that are not just basic 4/5 chord progressions, rather nice songs that perhaps incorporate some licks, fingerstlye etc ?

Thanks!

justin has quite a lot of what I'd call intermediate material, but the trouble is that once you get beyond beginner level, the choice of styles and genres opens up enormously. Everyone goes off in their own direction. "Advanced" means many different things. So, in any particular style, the numbers of people prepared to do advanced youtube lessons will decrease significantly (and those who will teach them well will be even fewer). It's a fragmented scene, with countless specialisms.
You'd need to decide on one or two specific pieces you want to learn, or specific techniques, and look those up.
It may even be that one or two folk on here can point you in the right direction, if you're more specific.

Thanks Jon. I like many genres, but if I had to pick on style of playing that I'd like to pursue further, then it'd be the following

http://youtu.be/lJ1EIAgkn2g

I love this style of playing, love the song, and the instrumental section in the middle too

I have found that the best way to find intermediate/advanced material on YouTube is by searching for a lesson a specific song or musician. Then, additional videos are often suggested. Pat Donahue, for example, has posted a three part lesson for Stormy Monday. I searched "Christmas chord melody lessons" and found a great arrangement of White Christmas, along with other lessons by the same instructor--freddym123. These lessons take a bit more digging to find, but they are out there.

Donahue's lesson is actually for "Strormy Weather".

What specific intermediate-advanced songs were you looking to learn? I think Lick n Riff actually has a lot of challenging finger style songs (in addition to the beginner stuff) because he's teaching you to play the melody line in addition to the chords.

You might have a look at Jerrys Guitar Bar. He has a lot of free lessons on You Tube and some lessons for pay and some packages. Not all are beginner.

TotallyGuitars.com has a lot of song lessons well above the beginner level.
He has a "Lite" program for $12.99/month

There is much to be said for paying for lessons. I have lessons from Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop (I highly recommend anything by Fred Sokolow), Homespun Tapes and Truefire. Hell, going back to the sixties I still have many of my Kicking Mule records (which aren't really lessons, just songs and tab). Lessons like these will often teach you more than a song, they will give you insight into arranging techniques and music theory. You can preview a lot of Grossman's stuff on youtube, without the tab.

Some information wants to be paid for.

Privettricker or Tonedr are both excellent. Also, Jerrys Guitar bar.
