i've been jones'in a little for a semi traditional maple git...might have to make room for one of these one day. Im still so bugged by that maple Beauregard Antoine Dufour recorded with (was just a one-off build, not Mario's typical)

Justonwo, do you think this circa is going to be in the same sphere as an Astrand? or are we talking apples and oranges?....listening to clips has me thinking of those 2 makes for a potential new guitar. I have an AMAZING Kraut that is a bit redundant in my tone pallet, and thinking of something to trade for....

Nah I like it, you can change it out when you get bored with the color, try some of that green frog tape, go with classic gray duct tape, then they have all the designer duct tape now too. If you hold it away from you, that edge should not really be an issue either. Love it.

Oh man, it’s been a long time since I’ve played an Astrand. I really don’t know. I can say that the Circa 000-12 on which this guitar was based was/is a show stopper. I wrote a review in 2016. John’s 000-12s are extremely versatile. I actually think the 000-12 in general is quite versatile with a cutaway.

If you want a semi-traditional builder with equivalent quality/tone and not as long a wait, try Laurent Brondel. As far as I’m concerned, those two are at the top of my heap.

It's pretty cutting edge for a traditionalist to have removable binding. I like it.

Argh. The world's most beautiful guitar and ... it's not mine.

Thanks for sharing the photos, I think.

I mean...I guess he pulled off those purflings ok.

Mahogany or maple neck on this one? Wow....what a build.

Wow... words fall short here. Stunning... wonderful wood combination and what a great builder. At Swannanoa, I know I need to avoid John's guitars... for fear of falling in love!

Mahogany. I know the maple fits the overall look better, but I want the low weight and stability of mahogany. Since this guitar won't have an adjustable truss rod, I don't want to tempt fate.

Well isn't that a simple straight forward way to make sure you bevels are consistent!!!! Love it.
