**SOLD** 2014 Gibson "1960s" J-45 (Serial #105140xx) -- **SOLD**
Selling my 2014 Gibson "1960s" style J-45. I am the original registered owner. This phenomenal sounding J-45 is in 9.5 out of 10 condition, and has been upgraded with a K&K mini and the bridge has been slotted and ramped for optimal string break angle. The guitar now wears all solid bone pins, and the nut has been professionally trimmed and shaped. Careful examination will also reveal the faint traces of the large batwing pickguard it once wore when new (I changed to the current traditional J-45 firestripe pickguard shortly after purchase).
A warning about the neck: It is a full C profile. Super comfortable, but beefier than a production J-45, the older J-45TV, and the current J-45 Vintage necks. Players who prefer the Martin MLO/PA or shallow Gibson AJ necks, this is NOT the guitar for you! **SOLD** . Downsizing, so no trades please. If I hadn’t bought Taylor Mullins j45 I’d be on this. Probably close to my home too...

The necks on these are great, so much better than a standard j45 for my hands.

Thanks Hawk, and I completely agree. I owned a J-45 Vintage for a bit and one of the reasons I sold it (aside from preferring the warm tone of broken-in Sitka over torrefied Adi) was because I liked the neck on the 1960s J-45 better. It's fuller and rounder, especially in the shoulders. Really it's personal preference based on how each player likes to grip the neck.

Buy with confidence folks! Brendan knows a great Gibson. And as a previously buyer of one of his AJ's, I can say with confidence that this one will be stellar, too.
Hope all is well Brendan. If I wasn't downsizing, I'd scoop this one up, too. GLWYS Vince

If I can find something in my area with same neck so I can test, I will be in contact. Just need to be sure first —- jed

Beautiful J45. I thought from reading about the different era's of J45 that the neck profiles were thin in the 1960's, or did that happen in late 60's?
Looks like you have PB strings on it, what brand do you prefer? |

This was part of a run of 50 or 75 Custom Shop guitars from 2014, loosely inspired by a late 1960s J-45, with its double-ring rosette and white batwing pickguard (which I swapped out almost immediately after purchase). The guitar is currently strung with Santa Cruz mid-tension PBs. Prior to the last setup where I had the bridge slotted and K&K installed, I was running Martin Retro Lights (12s) as my default strings, and occassionally D'Addario EXP-16s. But the Santa Cruz strings are way better. |
