SOLD

1100 shipped ConUS to Charter AGF member. $1150 to registered AGF member.

Background:
Over several years I’ve owned six different Martin 15-series guitars. For sale here is my Martin 000-15.

This an incredible guitar that sounds extremely “lush” with a deep “velvety” tone. It is also incredibly light-weight and very responsive. This is my favorite mahogany guitar and my favorite Martin.

This guitar:
This guitar is all solid (real/genuine) mahogany – Swietenia genus. That is an important point. This era of 000-15 is different from more recent 000-15M’s. Martin ran this line of 000-15’s and used real genuine Honduran mahogany. You can always tell this vintage of the 15-series by the waterslide Martin logo and rosette.

Martin discontinued this 15-series, then re-introduced it, rebadged with the “M” suffx (000-15M, D-15M, etcetera). The “M” versions had two major changes: They replaced the waterslide with a real inlay but they downgraded the wood and expanded their allowable definition of “mahogany” to included mahogany-like woods (sapele, sipo and khaya). You can tell because Martin now advertises these as “Mahogany”, but advertises their higher end Swietenia guitars as “Genuine Mahogany”.

This guitar is the same wood as Martin’s current high-end mahogany and, in my opinion, the best version of this 15-series. It has a very nice light satin finish. I also upgraded the strap buttons and installed Graphtech Tusq nut and saddle and it is set up perfectly.

This 000-15 is Martin’s small “orchestra” body, slightly thinner and more comfortable than Taylors GC (for a comparison). It has a full scale 25.5” and a narrow nut 1-11/16”. The bridge and fingerboard are rosewood.

I love the appearance of this more decorative gold rosette (I don’t like the look of the newer thin single line inlay). But, if you play like you’re angry, I must caution you about this. You occasionally see guitars where these rosettes have been worn away by “abusive” strumming. For “normal” players this is no problem but I wanted to mention it if you are one of those players who likes to pound on your guitar and carve the top with your pick – you will eventually wear a spot away on this rosette, so think twice (or play nice!)

Condition:
This guitar is in near-mint condition.
I am incredibly careful and protective of my guitars and I bought this one in almost unplayed condition.

The only mark is a pencil point size ding toward bottom of lower bout (tiny) and a teeny mark where armrest used to be.

The frets so almost no wear at all and the fingerboard the same.

The guitar comes with Martin’s original nice hardhsell case – in excellent condition.

Price:
These guitars typically currently from $1200 to $1500. This one is in essentially mint condition and priced accordingly.

They list it as a Soft V but it feels more like a low profile to me

Don't do it! Seriously though, these are great guitars. Good luck with your sale but hope you don't regret it!
