Post recording a Taylor using a mike

OK.

I know Taylor has great electronics built in.

But does anybody have a favorite mike that they use to record their Taylor.

You diehards that have Taylors without preamps lets hear from you.

I do quite a bit of recording of acoustic guitar in my studio. I run a Neumann KM184 through an ART Pro Channel (for phantom power and compression), and the result is nothing shy of spectacular. The KM184 was a bit expensive (about $500), but is worth every penny.

I've had very good results with a RODE NT1. This is a very inexpensive condensor mic with a sweet sound. I run that through a DBX DDP with some modest compression, and get good results. I think when MICing an acoustic, placement is more important than the quality of the MIC. Many people have recorded some great sounding stuff with an SM57.
