Need simple wedding song ideas
So I was asked to play guitar at a wedding and I'm trying to come up with some nice acoustic songs that will sound decent unaccompanied. It's going to be informal and I'm not expected to be a pro, but I'm more of an electric player and this isn't normally my thing. I don't play fingerstyle/classical, so it would need to be more of a strumming based song.
The best I've come with so far are Beatles - Here Comes The Sun or Something. For some more modern songs, I've also thought about Colbie Callait - Bubby, Ryan Adams - Lucky Now or Taylor Swift - The Best Day. I think these could work, but I'd appreciate any other suggestion you may have. It doesn't even have to be a well known song, anything with an easy fully sounding chord progression would be fine. Thanks in advance for any ideas! |

YouTube has some simple versions of Canon in D. The Forrest Gump Feather Song is simple and very pretty. Here Comes the Sun is also a good standby.

Greensleeves can be done with a pick, Love Me Tender, Amazing Grace. I also love this backing track which can be done mainly with open Em, C and D:

I got married to Little Trip to Heaven by Tom Waits. I asked them to play it similar to this:

Some other nice songs are Stand By Me, 'Till There Was You...I'll think of some more as the coffee kicks in.

How about Dylan’s/Adele’s Make You Feel My Love or The Troggs Love Is In The Air?
One of my favourite wedding songs is I Knew The Bride by Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds [emoji3] |

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Some good ideas that I wouldn't have thought of, I will check them out. BTW, I am not a singer and there will not be any vocalists there that I know of, so it will have to be instrumental.

I've played a lot of weddings around the San Francisco Bay Area over the years. Without question THE most requested song by the Bride was Roger McGuinn's "May the Road Rise to Meet You".
It's a classic old Irish love poem set to music by McGuinn and his wife. Easy to learn and a real crowd pleaser! It's a staple on Roger's setlist as he tours the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bzCZdB3dT4 |

Kate Wolf's - Give Yourself To Love. Easy to play, sing and has the perfect sentiment. I've played it at a dozen weddings and it always fits perfectly.
