Default Bank of America - SCAM Alert

I received this today despite not having any sort of account with B of A (1st red flag) and then looked at email address of sender [[email protected]] (2nd red flag). Bank of America's email address is not boa.com, it's BankofAmerica.com. As the Sarge on Hill St. Blues used to say, "Let's be careful out there."

I used to bank with Bank of America. Not too far from a scam there anyway.

Looks legit to me.

You'd think that these guys would at least get someone to help them put these things into a form reasonably close to grammatically correct.

I've been getting those for over 10 years - mostly from "Wells Fargo" (never had an account)

I'd call my local bank first and never respond to an email saying my account was closed.

NO NO NO !!!

Let them continue just like this,, it's always good for a chuckle. Phishing at it's finest!

I love the PayPal ones that ask you to login in to PayPAl and they are kind enough to send you a link that of course, has nothing what so ever to indicate it's actually PayPal..

you fall for that, you've just given up your username and your password! Wups..

as RP says, "lets be careful out there."

always hover your mouse over a link and look at the bottom of the browser or show the link before you go.

chances are it will not direct to anywhere near where you want to go, that would be a classic Phishing email

anytime you are being asked for a username and a password be extremely vigilant

I got one awhile back that was very professionally done.
Looked legit with all logos in correct place, etc.
Almost got me.
Said my online account access was frozen but I had just been there.
I minimized and went back again, worked fine.
Then checked the address of sender, bingo.
Scary stuff!
