Default Duck, Duck Jeep

I played a gig last night. When I went to my Jeep afterward I noticed something in the door handle, like someone had placed some trash there in the dark. What I found was a rubber duck. Huh?!!

One of the other musicians' wives said it was a thing of some sort, placing ducks on Jeeps.

OK, so I've got this duck. Am I supposed to do something specific with it? Pass it on or something?

Yep... some sort of thing alright. Here's more than you probably ever wanted to know about why you got ducked:

Now I know. There are so many "things" today I don't even try to keep up.

Yes its a thing. I know a couple of Jeep owners who duck others Jeeps, and been ducked in return.

Good info, thanks guys. It's good to know it is what the guy's wife thought it was and not something more sinister. Interesting story about how it all got started.

Yeah, I’ve got a Jeep and I’ve been ducked half a dozen times. I recycle ‘em by just keeping them in the car and ducking someone else when the chance arises.

Had a Jeep for 7 years, just swapped it off a few months ago.

Never heard of this.

My Wife's Jeep has been ducked a 1/2 dozen times. She sits them on the dash. Someone put a Rottweiler duck on her door handle one day and that one came inside the house to join her other 100 Rotty tchotchkes. They must have seen the Rotty sticker on her back window.

My stepson in upstate NY (and no, I don't mean Albany or any other area just north of NYC.....this is by the Vermont and Canadian borders) is a Jeep fanatic...has several...drives them, modifies them for trails, and customizes them for other people.

I asked him, and he said he's never heard of this.

And FWIW, my late Father-in-Law always said that if you're not in or above the Adirondacks, you're not Upstate NY...

That's funny. To anyone in NYC or out on Long Island though (so pretty much most of the State's population) "Upstate" is considered to be anything in State Boundaries that exists West and/or North of them.

Well, no offense to your FIL, but my significant other was born and raised in Albany and what I was always told is anything north of Poughkeepsie is upstate. My son went to Clarkson, that might as well be Canada.

Well, no offense to anyone, but my wife was born and raised 200 miles north of Albany (and another 75 or so from Poughkeepsie) and folks up there complain about how far south they have to drive to get to the Capital...I'm familiar with Clarkson (great university, btw) in Potsdam, as I pass thru there on my way further north to visit my in-laws...and when I get there I can just drive across the bridge to Canada.

My apologies to all for derailing the thread...we can get back to the ducks and Jeeps now...
