Arrow SOLD: McPherson Custom 4.0 Adi/Afr. Mahogany

McPherson Custom 4.0 Adirondack Spruce/African Mahogany

Over the next few weeks, it's "tax sale' time for me. I had to make some really hard choices about what to keep and what to sell. I've owned a McPherson guitar off and on for the past 10 years and love the guitars. They are built to last, and the intonation on these guitars is second to none I've ever heard. Overall tone is exquisite...big with overtones and a woody openness.

This one was actually a custom built for Wayne Burns of the outdoor TV show Outdoor Adventures....so it has a story and some really nice select woods. The guitar is in remarkable condition and although it has some very minors marks, virtually every one is around the edges, and not on the face of the guitar. Study up on McPhersons and you'll realize why these are prized guitars worth owning. McPherson guitars now START at 12 grand for a custom build...which I'm told is the only way to get one, other than certainly you can buy existing inventory but expect to spend much more to buy one of these.

The Woods:

Adirondack Spruce:
Considered by many to be the "holy grail" top wood, Adirondack spruce has a “springy” quality. Acoustically, it produces a robust output and more dynamic range than many other spruces, which allows it to be driven aggressively for greater volume without distortion. The midrange tones also tend to have a richer, sweeter quality. Very stiff with great tap tone.

African Mahogany: has a warm “woody” tone that accentuates the mid-range frequencies. Like all Mahogany, it’s unique internal dampening qualities create tonal balance and a crisp strong fundamental. African Mahogany is slightly stiffer and harder than Central American varieties, which expands it’s frequency response, and increases the production of overtones.

Includes: Ameritage custom-made arched hard-shell case with humidity control system--two humidifiers and a digital Hygrometer. Includes a factory-installed L.R. Baggs active pickup system.

Key Specs:

Nut width: 1 3/4
Lower bout Width: 16"
Depth: 4"
Top: Adirondack Spruce
Back & Sides: Figured African Mahogany
Bridge: Ebony
Binding: Rosewood
Nut & Saddle: Natural Bone
Fingerboard: Ebony

Neck: Cantilevered Mahogany
Scale length: 25 1/2"
Intonation system: Buzz Feiten System
Tuners: Schaller M6GA (Gold finish)

Custom Ameritage Case

Price:SOLD

I will consider trades with a chunk of cash and reasonable cash offers. No straight trades.

Peter, Looks like you have some awesome guitars. I always accept trades as more of an "accommodation" to buyers than an interest to own more guitars. Point is, I need cash flow worse than more guitars, but if you want to chat about mine, i'd love to visit. Send me either a pm or an email. Thx!

Mark, Thanks for the question. The string spacing at the saddle is 2 3/16. Let me know if you have other questions!

Thanks for the info on the string spacing. I was hoping it was more like 2-3/8".

Beautiful looking guitar though. Best of luck with the sale.

Thanks Mark! I play a lot of fingerstyle and the string spacing works well for me. Everyone is different.

But...I'm in a dealing mood. Reduced price to encourage fence sitters to "come on down!!"

Thanks Alan! It's a HECK of a deal on a great guitar with a story. If that price doesn't get your attention, make me an offer. Uncle Sam will appreciate it because the $$ go to him lol.

It's a great guitar. Someone will love it
