Default Help with my GAS - 414ce-R or D-28

My fellow blog friends, I have caught GAS badly and now I am looking for a rose wood guitar. I do know the two I am looking at are oranges and apples - Martin sound vs Taylor sound, GA vs D, electronics (D-28 without it)...

Have you played these guitars? If you have played could you please give me your impressions and which you favor?

The D-28 is more likely to sound like a rosewood guitar.

What kind of music will you play with either of these? Do you have other guitars? If yes, how will either of these fit into the mix.
How did you come to these two? (Yes, apples and oranges.) Are these two on a list of guitars you wish to acquire and are available now?

We need to know more. Well, at least I do, to offer any useful 2 cents worth.

I have a 28.

I haven’t owned a 414ce-R...but I’ve had three other EIR Taylors (an 814, 812e 12-fret and a V-Class 714ce). I’d definitely go with the D-28...

Yeah, this is a little like “do I get a pickup or a convertible?” What are you trying to achieve? What do you want this guitar to do that your other guirars don’t do? Have you played either of these models? If so, what do you like and not like about them? Context would be really helpful to give you a decent answer.

Speaking as someone who owns a 414ce and used to own a D-28, well...... guess what I suggest. Playability and good intonation took precedence for me. My 414 handles everything that I want to do, including bluegrass jams.

I’d look at a rosewood Taylor dreadnought if I was going to compare it to a D28.
I’m not really a GA guy so I would pick a D28 or a 414cer. Are you getting rid of one of your current Taylor or Martin? If so and you like both makers sounds, I’d get the opposite brand of the one you trade in.

I recently played a new Taylor 414ce V-Class Rosewood and it sounded like something I'd want. I've played many Martin D-28 guitars, and would recommend the Martin HD-28, which I also have, and because of its forward-shifted bracing, consider the new Martin HD-28. Either of these three guitars will sound great but given their depth of tone and resonance, the Martin HD-28, in new or older design, is hard to beat regardless of the music you play.

Martin D-28 or a Martin M-36. Both are fantastic guitars.

No, I am keeping them, like both sounds... different and I appreciate that.

Been playing the D-18 for days now and today I put it away and got the Taylor out, feel in love again

They are different but both have their place in my ears.

If you are looking at a dread why not a 717? Or a Martin MMV?

Listen to this guy!!!

Seriously though, i have recently played both those guitars for like two hours in one sitting at GC. The D-28 had been sitting there for a while by the looks of the strings and the Taylor 414 was a V-class. Both had the same wood all around, spruce and rosewood. All solid of course. The Taylor sounded and played great. But the Martin was a little bit more. The Martin had the nice bright ring i was looking for. So i got the OM-28 because i wanted the auditorium shape.
