Jay Dickinson: Portland Guitar "The Oregon Beauty" build thread
We were recently asked to build a custom guitar for a gentleman who lives on the Oregon Coast. We want this guitar to capture the gray beauty of the coast and the natural elements our client enjoys. To start with we picked out the wood. Based on the beauty of the wood and because he is a beekeeper a beeswing maple seemed appropriate for the back and sides. For a good finger picking sound and to compliment the lightness of the maple a western red cedar was chosen for the top. Pictured are the sets that will be used.

Looks like a great start, I love the knots in the Maple as well as the other figure!

They are beautiful pieces, I'm excited to see them sanded and polished up. The smell on the western red cedar is great.

The Sketches
The theme centers around a river that runs through the guitar. it will flow down the fret board with fingers that curl out around the marker dots. This leads to eye to the contra rosette in which there is a fish. The stream continues onto the back, where there is a man in a boat holding up a fish. Here are some pictures with what it will look like.
