New D-42, saddle height etc

There are a lot of threads about potential neck resets.

I've recently bought a new D-42.

I want to share some info with you and like to hear what your opinions are.

Facts:
- It's strung with 11's (yesterday it were 12's) but it doesn't change the action at the 12th fret --> 2,4 mm

- The top of the guitar to bottom of the E string --> 11,6 mm

- Remaining saddle height above the bridge between the D and G string is about 2,5 mm

Are these things ok?

The action is ok for me. I just want to know if these things are within spec and I'm not looking at a neck reset for the first coming years. Love the guitar!

Eventually 15 years plus there will definitely be at time a neck reset will happen...

Thats right in the range of what I would call perfect. There's no reason why you will need a neck reset in 15 years. Just don't worry about it any more, your guitar is fine.

Because of all the info on this forum I thought the saddle might be to low.

You said 2 mm 4 mm at your 12th fret on 1st and 6 th strings, is this correct? If so that would mean 5/64 and 10/64 and way high IMO.

No eventuality is guaranteed. In fact, most guitars do not ever need a neck reset. Some do, some don't. There is no guarantee that yours will in 5, 15, 25 or 45 years.

Reading all the stuff on these forums will make you nuts. Take it all with a grain of salt and remember we guitar geeks that obsess over that stuff are a very small subset of the guitar playing public. So relax, my friend, and enjoy that great new guitar. I know I love my D-41...a lifer for sure.

That’s fine if bass E string. If that’s on Treble E string then that’s high for my liking.

Conclusion:

No indications for an early neck reset?

Does it play and sound great? Is there still a little room on the saddle to shave down a bit if u need to someday? If so your golden pony boy

I do 3/32 down to 2/32 low to high e-string and consider that optimal. Your saddle has plenty of room for an adjustment in the future. You said you like the way the setup feels so that's really all that matters. Looks liek a super nice guitar to me congrats.

Don't believe all of the "info" you read on the guitar forums...more than a fair bit of it is the over-wraught hyperventilating of OCD guitar nerds...allegedly guitar nerds...hopelessly lost in the guitar forum weeds of arcane guitar specs and confirmation bias.

By the way, your action looks just great, you probably will NOT need a neck reset anytime even remotely soon...if ever...and CONGRATS on your SUPERB D-42...one of Martin's very best instruments. You done GOOD!!!
