Default After the flood

How appropriate, I feel, that the first thing the contractor would build after the demolition and remediation of flood mold from IDA, would be to build me a guitar closet. Sometimes life is just plain good! Thank you Tommy and DreamScape Contractors.

After going through a flood that knocked my business out for 6 months in 2020, I can certainly smile a little for your good fortune.

I agree wholeheartedly Ken! Many posts could use a good “like” now and then.

I’m sorry to hear of your flood experience, fitness. As if covid wasn't bad enough last year, you were hit double hard. I hope you are back to full speed now!

Nice to see action in your recovery from the flood problems in your area, Frank!

I have a guitar storage closet in my studio and it is really, really helpful!

Thank you for checking in Willow. Three weeks is the timeline the contractor is giving us till completion. It was really great of the guys to offer to put a gear closet together for me as part of the job. Everything in there will be at least one foot off the floor, just in case another damaging weather event decides to pay us a visit! Thanks again Glenn.

The tape and spackle boys came in to ready the new drywall for paint next week. A little bit closer to normal before the holidays get here.

So, my bedroom/hangout room is moving along. Today, all will get another coat of bright white paint and then the tiles will start going down.
I picked the closet organizer for the big closet at the other end of the room which should afford Erin and I plenty of storage space. I am tweaking the design slightly by adding a center hanging rod to give the layout a full twelve feet side to side. We have been learning to use all available space in this mother/daughter format we live in now!

Default After the flood

Little by little this half of the house is coming back…
A mid century modern wire foot dresser paired with an Eames brothers recliner of the same era.
This weekend the closet system goes in and maybe get to work on my gear closet too, if time permits.

And I can’t forget my TexMex roots so heavily associated with my restaurant life, so the futon keeps me grounded!

The gear closet got loaded today. Anything important is off the floor! Just need a spot for hardware and miscellaneous stuff now. Little by little I’m getting back to normal living again.

It looks like we chose same if not nearly same flooring for our post-flood repairs! I hope your home and neighborhood are better set for the future. It was such a terrible and expensive situation.

I believe we're fairly set for the future now. The lot is generally good but 16+ inches of rain dumped in a short time. We did not get nailed like homes close by where the streets were rivers. Some attention to outside of the house and a grade reversal I did in a spot in the lot should be good.

Yeah, flooring from Lowes for a buck ninety nine a sq ft. It will serve the purpose well I think. Thanks for checking in!
