Smile Paradise - John Prine Cover

Hi, all --

In honor of John Prine, I thought I'd submit a cover of "Paradise". He will be missed dearly!

Very nice tribute. Your recording is great. I loved the tone of your guitar and voice. Can you tell me your recording set up?

Hi there, learningalways,

I recorded it on my MacBook Pro, using Logic Pro software and a standard Blue Yeti USB microphone. I've been using that set-up for a while now, and it's been great for recording rough cuts and demos.

Very very nice. I've been playing and singing a lot of John's stuff in the past week or so, since we heard he fell ill, and even more now that he's gone. And your's is the second or third tribute I've heard on a forum and all of them leave me with one thought: I WISH I COULD SING!!!

Fortunately John wrote for his own voice, which wasn't amazing, and relied on some great singers to find hidden depths in his songs. So I can bang 'em out sort of in his spirit. But it's so nice to hear someone with a nice voice sing them so pretty. At my best I may manage "expressive", but I'll never make it sound pretty. You sure did with this version of Paradise...

Outstanding. Good performance of a good song, with spot-on harmonies.

Nice tribute to JP.
