I spent a week with Darrell, on a songwriting course a few years ago.
Not sure that I learnt much, but we had great fun!

Quote:
I took one of Darrell's songwriting classes. And at the beginning he said, "Instead of everybody introducing themselves, why doesn't everybody just play a song." Then we took a bathroom break and he was going to draw names out of a hat. As I walked back into the room, the first guy was playing and it sounded VERY good. Next name out of the hat was me. So, I got up on the little stage and started playing one of my songs, and then I heard Darrell Scott playing along with me. I just about fell off my chair. I messed up the first verse a little, but recovered and got through it quite fine. - I wish I had a recording of that !

I’d only play withNigel if he’d let me play through his amp and turn it up to 11.

Already have done, and continuing to do so in person; Keola Beamer, Jeff Peterson respectively. Have only done via play along with cd/digital but would like to do so in person; Bruce Cockburn.

Probably my youngest brother. We just seem to mesh.

The list is long. My personal idea of heaven is being able to spend years learning directly with and mastering the styles of Django Reinhart, BB King, Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Rev. Gary Davis, Red Shea, and others.
Of course, being burdened by teaching me would probably be their idea of the other place. |

Red Shea and/or Monte Dunn.

Steve Rothery was the one who made me want to play guitar.
Paul Weller the one that got me into singer/songwriter stuff.

The list is way to long to list, but I would love to play with and listen to the stories of Scotty Moore.
