Bit of a stretch to call them "reviews"...
More like guys who THINK they're funny (and sadly, they aren't).
If you buy a Ferrari and have to ask how much gas it uses, you can't afford it.
The same applies to a copy of one of THE most ionic guitars in history, the OM-45 Deluxe. The price is the price. Trying to affix value to a luxury good is a fool's errand.

PS. To answer the original question..."Why is this Martin $80,000"?
Because it can be.

Trying to use Ferrari and this particular Martin guitar as a comparison is wrong. A Ferrari, even the California gives you things in an vehicle that you don’t get in Normal vehicles and they’re at a performance point WAY above the overwhelming majority of vehicles! Throwing some abalone at a copy of a famous guitar doesn’t even come close to making it worth what they’ve got it priced at. I guarantee you it’s not $70+k better sounding or playing than a ‘37 D-28 AA. If I were going to spend $80k on ANYTHING, I’d have to be getting something worth that money. I’m glad they’re are collectors out there who have that kind of disposable cash to spend on stuff like this, but I’d rather keep my D41 and buy me a 1,000 hp C7 Z06 Vette!!

On a serious note the guitar and especially the the inlay is not built this way or with these materials by anyone. Not even close.

You can buy a $500 guitar with inlay that looks like a Martin D-45. So why buy a Martin D-45?

I find the reviews quite funny and I'm glad that MF has (so far) left them up. It's a bit of a stretch to compare a D45 of any kind to a Ferrari, but I agree it's a luxury item for people who really have plenty of extra money to kick around. I have no qualms with these people and if this is what they want, then more power to them.

Now, with all that being said, I have obviously not played one of these but I have a hard time believing it's THAT much better than a $10,000 guitar, or even a $6,000 guitar. I could be wrong, but I doubt I am! [emoji1787]

There are so many things in our world to be upset about, and this really isn't one of them. It's good to see people having some fun!

Seeing this honestly makes me not want to buy another Martin, and I’ve been wanting a D18...

1 of 11 exceptional guitars?
50 years from now they'll laugh at the idea that they were too expensive.

Honestly, I think this is a marketing gimmick like you used to see in the old paper phone books. Everyone was AAAAutomotive, and AAAApplicance etc so that they could be listed first.

If you go to to MF's website and search for acoustic guitars and sort by price highest to lowest, the first few rows are all Martin guitars. That tells customers Martin makes the most expensive, ergo, the best guitars. Which helps convince them to buy a regularly priced Martin.

As much as I am a Martin fan the price is beyond silly. Maybe I could afford it if I became a rapper.

Exactly! Fifty years from now people will be saying"why did they think 80k was a ridiculous price? There hasn't been any Brazilian on the planet for the last 25 years".

At any rate, these guitars are priced correctly for the exclusive collector's market they were made for. The rest of us weren't part of the equation when Martin decided to build these 11 guitars.
