How Willie Nelson Ties Treble Ball End Strings?
I just received my first classical/crossover nylon strung guitar. Willie's sound had a lot to do with wanting this rig. FWIW it is a Tak TC135SC.
I have learned Willie uses ball end nylon strings which suits me just fine to begin with. I see that Willie does in fact tie the treble strings ball and all. I will be needing a little instruction, and would appreciate any info someone might have with this. Pictures are worth a thousand words they say. Thanks much, Scott |

Man! There's a lot of nonsense on YouTube, but I found one video that comes close to what I'd consider correct: http://youtu.be/4Cw84_0KHTI
I'd go with three wraps for the treble B and E strings, and the ball ends aren't needed if you tie the strings using the method shown in the video. I don't know anyone who relies on a ball end string, but maybe Willie can't tie knots. They do make clip-on ties for guys who can't tie a Windsor knot.... |

I have the hardest time at the headstock and have tried several knotting methods. I'll give this method a shot on the next change. For my steel strings I have a formula for how much excess to leave at the headstock but am still trying to figue that for the nylons.
I just converted my bridge to a 12-hole and am still experimenting with securing the treble strings on this type of arrangement.
