Patents are pretty much useless until they're tried in the courts. You can get a patent for almost anything (that someone else hasn't beat you to) but it's only a piece of paper until you defend it in the courts.

I don't know why the eBay picture has so many field blanked out. A quick check in the patent database yields all the info. Specifically it was filed in March of 1999 and granted in September 2000.

I wonder how they set the auction price? If it hasn't been throught the courts or if no one's making the picks right now (I don't recall ever seeing them) then the patent's not worth the photocopy costs.

Plus, I don't think you can sell a patent. It's owned by the entity(individual(s) or company) that filed it. You can sell the rights but all that would do is perhaps give you the right to produce and sell these things and spend a bunch of money in court to defend it.

To be honest, the listing fees for that auction are probably higher than the patent is worth.
