Default The Amazing 355 12 String

I traveled 170 miles today to Elderly Music in Lancing to play every Taylor 12 string they had. I was particularly interested in a 555. They had about every Taylor 12 in the line and the 555 was very nice but,,,,, for the money, you can NOT beat the 355. I went back and fourth between the 555 and 355 and the 355 is a smidge brighter and more airy. The 555 had a little more warmth to it but I think in time the 355 will warm up as well. The 555 was a 99 0r 2000 model so it has had a little "open -up" time.I took the 355 home with me! I can't say enough about Elderly's. WOW!! What a cool store. I have never seen so many Taylors out in one store, not to mention all the other brands. I also got to sell a nice family a big baby for their teen daughter. They asked for my help and it was really cool to give them my take on the affordable little giant. Now to get with Capn' Bill and get some custom doo-dads for this one!

Joe,

I'm still amazed at my 355, and I've played/owned lots of 12-bangers. The 355 is an amazing piece of work. Sorta the DC-3 of the guitar world.
Enjoy your new one!

Ive been singing praise for the 355 for some time. I have one and also a K65CE while the K looks can kill. The 355 can still hold its own with it and has a little brighter tone. 355! just cant beat it for any price. JW

I played a Legends of the Fall 355 at Cassells in San Fernando and it just sang like a choir. Strong clear and resonated for I swear an hour. I think it had the Imbuia back and sides. Wow what a guitar. Is your's a cut away ? I kinda like the non cutaway myself.

Non -cut-away here and I chose it over the cut-away. It just has a little something extra and I have been playing it non-stop all weekend and I honestly think the darned thing is starting to open up already! I have written two songs with it so it looks like the beginning of a beeeutiful relationship. I can't wait to add all my little custom doo-dads.
