As you age ....
Your "do it now" message for today ....
Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening. Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday. ... and the month is already over. ... and the year is almost over. ... and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed. ... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends. and we realize it's too late to go back... So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time... Let's keep looking for activities that we like... Let's put some color in our grey... Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts. And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters... I'm doing it after... I'll say after... I'll think about it after... We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours. Because what we don't understand is that: Afterwards, the coffee gets cold... afterwards, priorities change... Afterwards, the charm is broken... afterwards, health passes... Afterwards, the kids grow up... Afterwards parents get old... Afterwards, promises are forgotten... Afterwards, the day becomes the night... Afterwards life ends... And then it's often too late.... So... Let's leave nothing for later... Because waiting for later, we can lose the best moments, the best experiences, the best friends, the best family... The day is today... The moment is now... |

Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew You were the first, so was I We made love and then you cried Remember when Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard We lived and learned, life threw curves There was joy, there was hurt Remember when Remember when old ones died and new were born And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged We came together, fell apart And broke each other's hearts Remember when Remember when the sound of little feet Was the music we danced to week to week Brought back the love, we found trust Vowed we'd never give it up Remember when Remember when thirty seemed so old Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone To where we are, where we've been Said we'd do it all again Remember when Remember when we said when we turned gray When the children grow up and move away We won't be sad, we'll be glad For all the life we've had And we'll remember when Remember when Remember when

Across the evening sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can they know it's time for them to go? Before the winter fire, I will still be dreaming I have no thought of time For who knows where the time goes? Who knows where the time goes? Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving Ah, but then you know it's time for them to go But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving I do not count the time For who knows where the time goes? Who knows where the time goes? And I am not alone while my love is near me I know it will be so until it's time to go So come the storms of winter and then The birds in spring again I have no fear of time For who knows how my love grows? And who knows where the time goes? Sandy Denny |

The Who sang "hope I die before I get old". When I was young and old age something in the far distance, this was a sentiment I could vaguely sympathise with.
But I'm in my 50's now, with hopefully a lot of living still to do. So I'll go with Robbie rather than Pete. |

As I age I prefer blunt realism to nostalgic idealism.
