A Really Beautiful Looking and Sounding Guitar – a David Taylor Parlor Guitar
This guitar is STUNNING! With a gorgeous bee’s wing mahogany back and sides, a beautiful rare Port Orford Cedar top, a cool Celtic Trinity sound port, and a seven piece neck, it is truly hard to stop gazing at this guitar. And OH YES the sound is responsive with good projection and tone, and the playability is fast with its thin neck profile.
The guitar is in very good condition for being over 11years old. No dings and just a few minor swirl scratches (to small to pick up in a photo). There is some minimal finish pimples on the lower binding only (you likely will not even notice, it too cannot be picked up in a photo, you can feel it with your finger tips). Also if you’re a player who likes to dig-in, the current set-up with its cedar top, is probably not for you. Selling as I am getting older and I do not want to burden my kids with selling it when the time comes. Wish I could pass it on but they do not play. I am asking $4,100 shipped. • MAKER: David Taylor, DT Guitars • MODEL: Parlor • AGE: I am guessing this guitar was made about 2010 based on a review of this exact guitar in Acoustic Guitar Forum. https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=221513 • CONSTRUCTION: Bolt-on Neck Joint (I think) • BODY SIZE: Parlor-12 Fret • TOP: Port Orford Cedar • ROSETTE: Honduran Rosewood • TOP BRACING PATTERN: ''X'' • TOP BRACES: Spruce • BACK MATERIAL: Bees Wing Mahogany • BACK BRACES: Mahogany (latter) • BACK PURFLING: None • SIDE MATERIAL: Bees Wing Mahogany • ENDPIECE: Ebony • ENDPIECE INLAY: White Line • BINDING: Ebony with White Lines on the Top and Bottom • TOP INLAY/PURFLING: Amazon Rosewood with White Lines • SIDE INLAY: None • BACK INLAY: None • NECK MATERIAL: Mahogany and Curly Maple, 7 piece • NECK SHAPE: very thin “C” (approximately .79'' thick) • NUT MATERIAL: Bone • HEADSTOCK: Bound with Amazon Rosewood, Ebony and White Lines • HEADSTOCK BACK STRAP: Ebony • HEADPLATE: Solid Honduran Rosewood • HEELCAP: Ebony • FINGERBOARD MATERIAL: Solid Black Ebony • FINGERBOARD RADIUS: 16'' • SCALE LENGTH: 24.6'' • FRET MATERIAL: Stainless Steal • NUMBER OF FRETS CLEAR: 12 • NUMBER OF FRETS TOTAL: 19 • FINGERBOARD WIDTH AT NUT: 1-3/4'' • FINGERBOARD WIDTH AT 12TH FRET: 2-15/64'' • FINGERBOARD POSITION INLAYS: None with Side Position Markers • FINGERBOARD BINDING: None, Fret ends do not show • FINISH BACK & SIDES: Polished Gloss • FINISH TOP: Polished Gloss • FINISH NECK: Polished Gloss • BRIDGE MATERIAL: Solid Black Ebony • BRIDGE PINS: Ebony with Abalone Inlay • BRIDGE STYLE: D Taylor Design • BRIDGE STRING SPACING: 2-5/16'' • SADDLE: 16'' Radius, Compensated, Bone, 3/16'' Width • TUNING MACHINES: Gotoh 510 Gold tuners w/ Black Knobs • RECOMMENDED STRINGS: Light • END PIN: None • SOUND PORT: Celtic Knot in Mahogany bound in Black with White Line • PICKGUARD: None • CASE: Hard-shell with Arched Lid (TKL?, it just says Made in Canada) • ACTION 1st Fret: Low E = .51mm (.020''), High E = .48mm (.019'') • ACTION 12th Fret: Low E = 2.41mm (.095''), High E = 1.57mm (.062'') • BODY LENGTH: 19 7/8'' • BODY UPPER BOUT WIDTH: 9'' • BODY LOWER BOUT WIDTH: 13 1/4'' • BODY WAIST: 7 1/8'' • TOTAL LENGTH: 39'' Last edited by DADGAD6; 04-08-2023 at 10:13 AM.
