Picked up a Squire Tele bullet, nice price and great sounding guitar
In fact I doubt most people could tell the sound difference
Compared to a US model.

Don't know if you're a DIY kinda guy, but those Squiers - especially the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe models - make fantastic mod platforms, and with the right components and a good setup will outperform many far-higher-priced instruments; got an '86 "second transition-era" MIJ Strat myself, that served as one of my main live/studio guitars for 25 years and still sees occasional use when I need "that" sound - no mods other than a first-class setup at MandoBros in early '87, sounds/plays as good or better than most contemporary Strats I've encountered, and raises a lot of eyebrows (and furrows more than a few others among owners of more expensive instruments ) when I bring it out on a gig. Hope you own - or have plans to acquire in the very near future - a nice tube amp to play it through...

Use it well, often, and LOUD...

Congrats Dave! Squires aren't as underappreciated as they used to be. Have fun with your Bullet.

That's like saying, "You sweat less than any other fat gal I know!"

I think I should have stated that Squiers are no longer "unappreciated" rather than "underappreciated ". They've made some great guitars over the past few years and get lots of raves on many forums.

It's really curious how the in particular the Telecaster recipe seems to work well even at the lower end of the price range, and even where the original recipe isn't followed completely. I've got a mongrel American Tele, but it's not the one I play the most.

Two Squire Tele's I've known and loved:

The guitar that sits next to my computer as I type here in "Studio B" (AKA a crowded little office) which is a three pickup "Fat Nashville" setup with a Firebird style neck humbucker. They sold these about a decade ago, might have been in the Vintage Modified line. It's here for when I need to lay down a scratch part or drop in a solo on the second thought. Seems well enough made, versatile sound.

An Affinity Tele made in the late 20th Century. Sold as a cheap guitar when new with a thinner that regular Telecaster body and totally undistinguished hardware including a top-loader bridge--and I bought it used, so cheaper yet. I ripped out the neck pickup, but I think it still has the stock bridge pickup in it. Now it's my "Ex-Squire" with a screaming treble sound that could cut through granite. Not as versatile, but for certain things, nothing else will sound like it.

Funny how even a less expensive Telecaster can be so much fun and make such good noise isn't it. Enjoy yours!
