Default Mandolin repair...

Does this look like it would be fairly easy to repair? Would the neck have to be removed?

Cant tell from the pic,but if you can get a syringe into the crack check Stewmac. They sell syringes to get glue deep in the crack.Use the syringe to get the glue as deep and fill the crack. Then clamp it.

If this is a Pac Rim mandolin, I'd glue it myself. You can force wood glue deep into the crack by blowing through a tube or even a straw. You can thin it out a bit too, then clamp it up and wipe excess glue with a damp paper towel.

If it's a $2000+ instrument, see a pro.

Thanks for the responses! Yes it's a pac rim. It's an MK I got in 2004. Was my first mandolin. Not in any hurry to get it fixed. Was just curious what I might be looking at repair wise. You can't throw a rock in this place without hitting a luthier so I thought I'd ask. lol Thanks!!

Yes, and actually, we've been meaning to talk to you about that. Several of the luthiers that frequent this forum have been complaining that you've been getting a little too....enthusiastic about throwing rocks at them. They don't mind it quite as much if they've got the instruments they're building secured in Calton cases, but when stuff's still laid out on the bench it's downright aggravating.

Making rude gestures, telling rude luthier jokes, even the mooning you're so inexplicably fond of - while those aren't ideal forum behavior, none of those are as annoying or as potentially damaging as the rock-throwing.

So give it a rest, please.

Trying shooting Nerf balls at them instead....

Hope this helps!

Geeze Wade. No more mooning? I can't have any fun around here.

Sorry, but there have been complaints. Evidently the Health Department has been called. It seems they want you to wear a mask, not just on your face but also, um, down there...

What's that?

No, I'm not sure that a bandanna would be sufficient.

Most folks use toilet paper. But it's not reusable, so maybe a bandanna is a better choice....
