Default 12-String Discussion Forum

Just curious why we don’t have a separate forum for 12-string guitars. We have one for harp guitars, carbon fiber guitars, arch top guitars but not 12-string. Is there not enough interest?

Agreed lots of 12 string players here. I have never even seen a harp guitar in person.

We can certainly bring that up with the administration and see what happens. In my time here, I don't remember a discussion about adding that subforum, but it's a valid question. They might have thought 22 subforums was enough, but we do add them on occasion, so it's certainly not out of the question. I'll pass along your request.

While there are many repetitive threads on the forum, the 12 string threads seem to be hauntingly similar. For example, there have been 3 threads on 12 string capoes within the last month or so, including 2 started roughly within a week of each other. Many of the posts in those are remarkably similar. I am guilty of that myself. The 12 string material can get kind of lost in the shuffle and is not always easy to find.

As a long time (50+ years) 12 string player, I think a separate sub-forum would be a great idea. While I also play 6 string a lot, I spend a considerable amount of time on 12 string, some days not playing 6 string at all, only 12 string. So I would welcome such a sub-forum, if only from the point of view of having a focussed repository of knowledge.

I've lost the argument for additional sub-forums in the past so I'll hold my tongue, but as a 12 string player I love reading 12 string posts.

I can't imagine it would see much action. Keeping threads in the regular acuostic forum allows everyone to see them.

If there were 10 or 15 active threads I could see it, but I think it would be a dead subforum.

I for one would check it every time I logged in. And I would guess most other 12 string players would too, especially when they realized there was one.

Perhaps, but they aren't posting now. When was the last time you started a 12 string thread? When was the last time anyone in this thread started a 12 string thread?

Forums can get too diluted.
